How therapy works here

Your own therapist, more than one hour a week

Therapy at Rockland runs through a structured outpatient program. You are assigned your own clinician for individual sessions, and you join group therapy alongside a small number of other adults working through similar things. Most people attend several days a week.

If a weekly appointment has not been enough, this gives you more contact, more support, and a team who talk to each other about your care. If a single hour a week is what you are after, we are probably not the right fit, and we will tell you that on the first call rather than book you in.

  • Reach out

Call us or send the form. A clinician gets back to you the same day, usually within the hour.

  • Short, confidential assessment

We ask what is going on, what you have tried before, and what you want to change. About fifteen minutes, at no cost.

  • Get matched and start

We recommend the level of care that fits, introduce you to your therapist, verify your benefits, and tell you what is open.

Levels of care

Choosing the right level for you

Both programs include individual therapy with your own clinician plus group therapy. The difference is how many hours a week and how much structure you need. We recommend a level after the assessment, and the decision is yours.

  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Structured individual and group therapy several days a week, scheduled so you can keep working or studying.
  • Partial Hospitalization (PHP) Our most structured option. Full treatment days, with evenings spent at home.
  • Telehealth Either program delivered by secure video, anywhere in Massachusetts.

Common questions

Before you call

How quickly can I be seen?

We return every inquiry the same day, usually within the hour. Availability changes week to week, so rather than promise a timeframe here, we will tell you exactly what is open on that first call.

Can I see a therapist in person, or is it all virtual?

Both. You can attend in person at Sharon, Bedford or Quincy, or take part by secure video anywhere in Massachusetts, whichever works better for you. Plenty of people do a mix of the two.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can contact us directly. If your insurance plan requires a referral, we will tell you when we verify your benefits and help you sort it out.

What will it cost?

We accept most major insurance and we verify your benefits before you start, so you will know what your sessions cost before the first appointment. We are not able to accept Medicaid, MassHealth or WellSense.

Is this therapy, or is it a program?

Both. Therapy here is delivered through our outpatient programs rather than as standalone weekly appointments. You have your own therapist for individual sessions and you take part in group therapy with other adults.

To be straight with you, if what you want is one hour a week and nothing more, we are probably not the right fit. We will say so on the first call.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Everything you share is confidential and HIPAA-protected, including your first call. We never share your information.

Where are you located?

We have three Massachusetts locations, in Sharon (374 Old Post Rd, Sharon, MA 02067), Bedford and Quincy, and we offer telehealth across the state.
